چکیده

Objective: To investigate sensitization to third-stage Anisakis simplex larvae in a randomly selected population in northern Morocco. Methods: We studied sera obtained from clinical analysis laboratories in Tangier and Tetuouan and from fi shermen at Tangier port. The age of the study population ranged from 6 to 83 years. ImmunoCAP and immunoblotting techniques were used to determine total and specifi c immunoglobulin (Ig) E values and the 2 and Fisher exact tests were applied to analyze relationships between study variables. Results: A seroprevalence of 5.1% was found, with a higher percentage of positive sera in the 31-to-43-year age group. Sensitization was not signifi cantly associated with the origin, sex, occupation, or age of the individuals studied. In sera positive by InmunoCAP, immunoblotting studies detected numerous bands of between 7 kDa and >209 kDa, with a predominance of bands in the ~20-kDa to 24-kDa range. Conclusions: Although no cases of human anisakiasis have been reported in Morocco to date, part of a randomly selected population in Northern Morocco shows sensitization to A simplex proteins.

The Clinical Characteristics of Anisakis Allergy in Korea

Anisakidae larvae can cause anisakiasis when ingested by humans. Although several groups have reported a gastrointestinal Anisakis allergy among people in Spain and Japan, our report is the first to summarize the clinical features of 10 Anisakis allergy cases in Korea. We enrolled 10 Korean patients (6 men and 4 women) who complained of aggravated allergic symptoms after ingesting raw fish or s...

Anisakis simplex allergy after eating chicken meat.

BACKGROUND Allergic reactions to food can be produced by contaminants that induce sensitization. Among these, Anisakis simplex can cause seafood infestation, and allergic symptoms (urticaria-angioedema, anaphylaxis, and asthma) can follow the eating or handling of affected fish. Although seafood is the principal source of human infections by this parasite, we have found allergic symptoms in 8 p...

Allergy and parasites reevaluated: wide-scale induction of chronic urticaria by the ubiquitous fish-nematode Anisakis simplex in an endemic region.

BACKGROUND The ubiquitous fish-nematode Anisakis simplex produces acute urticaria or angioedema in the course of gastro-allergic anisakiasis. We studied the relationship between this nematode and chronic urticaria (CU), as well as the clinical usefulness of measuring specific IgG4 in A. simplex-sensitized patients with CU. METHODS First, the prevalence of sensitization to A. simplex was estim...

Sensitization to Anisakis simplex s.l. in a healthy population.

The main objective of this study was to determine the degree of sensitization to Anisakis simplex s.l. in healthy population. Using the determination of specific IgE, we studied the seroprevalence against A. simplex s.l. in blood donors selected at random in the region of Antequera (Southern Spain). We detected 22.1%. The immunoblotting technique revealed a band of approximately 60 kDa in the s...

Acute allergic reactions to Anisakis simplex after ingestion of anchovies.

Anisakis simplex is a seafish nematode, which is responsible for the well-known human infection (anisakiasis) and can induce IgE-mediated reactions. IgE sensitization to Anisakis simplex can be frequent in particular countries and should be suspected in patients with acute allergic symptoms after ingestion of fish. The etiological role of Anisakis simplex was evaluated in 49 adult subjects with...
